Volunteering Opportunities

We are a community organisation always open to new people joining us.

Our volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds, and some are based outside Hampshire. What they all share is a passion for history, for sharing stories and for community projects.

Our main base is Winchester, but everyone works from home. We have volunteers who help us 2-3 days a week, others who help for just a few hours, and some who only volunteer during Winchester Heritage Open Days itself.

Some roles require the ability to work under pressure, as well as previous experience in a festival or administrative environment. Others just need a willingness to learn and to “pitch in” as required. We expect all our volunteers to be part of a team, to be organised, polite and professional at all times.

If you love heritage and history, and are prepared to volunteer your time, your skills and your enthusiasm too then get in touch today!

When applying to become a volunteer, please tell us a little bit about yourself, what roles you are interested in, and the amount of time you can commit to volunteering. If you prefer, you can use our Winchester Heritage Open Days volunteering form.

We aim to reply to all expressions of interest to volunteer within 6 working days. Please note we will ask you to send us your curriculum vitae and a reference prior to any informal chat or interview, so we recommend having this information ready prior to contacting us.

Trustees

Are you passionate about bringing history to life? Have you got some time to help us do this? We are looking for people like you to join our board of Trustees. Interested and want to find out more? Please email us – trustees@hampshireshistorytrust.com

Support Roles

We are seeking volunteers to assist our Trustees with fundraising and communications. If you have marketing or fundraising skills and experience, then we’d be delighted to hear from you.

Winchester Heritage Open Days

There is always plenty of work to be done behind the scenes each year to coordinate and promote this popular event.  If you can help with festival administration and communications, then please get in touch.

Hampshire HistBites

The door is always open to anyone with podcasting experience or creative writing skills, but we are also willing to provide ‘on-the-job’ training for anyone with a passion listening to podcasts and/or for public history.
