Our main base is Winchester but everyone works from home and currently we meet via Zoom.
We have volunteers who help us 2 to 3 days a week, others who help for just a few hours and a few who only volunteer during the Heritage Open Days festival itself.
If you love heritage and history, and are prepared to volunteer your time, your skills and your enthusiasm too then get in touch today!
It is a small voluntary team that runs everything and we are always open to new people joining us.
Our volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds and some are based outside Hampshire. What they all share though is a passion for history and a willingness to work a team along side people at all levels and all ages.
Some roles require the ability to work under pressure as well as previous experience in a festival or administrative environment, but other roles just need a willingness to learn and to “pitch in” as required! All roles though require our volunteers to be organised, polite and professional.
Join the Board!
We’re searching for trustees to join our supportive and welcoming board, in particular those with finance experience and an interest in the role of Treasurer.
The role of Treasurer would involve monitoring the financial standing of the charity, overseeing financial risk-management practices, cash-flow, income streams, expenses and management of financial resources. Key skills include: financial qualifications/experience, knowledge of the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice, good IT skills, analytical skills, ability to communicate and explain financial information to others. Specific knowledge
of charity finance, law and insurance is a bonus.
Interested? Use the contact us button (above left) to request our Trustee pack which includes a briefing paper, our constitution and the application form, and you can at the same time arrange an informal chat with the Trust Chair.
Alternatively download the application form today – deadline for submission is 20th December 2021.
Headquarters – Support Roles
We are also looking for volunteers to assist our Trustees with fundraising and our social media. If you have social media experience or fundraising skills and experience then we’d be delighted to hear from you.
Project – Heritage Open Days
There is plenty of work to be done behind the scenes every year from festival administration to communications.
Project – HistBites
The door is always open to anyone with podcasting experience or creative writing skills, but we are also willing to provide ‘on-the-job’ training for anyone with a passion listening to podcasts and/or for public history.
We aim to reply to all expressions of interest to volunteer within 6 working days. The deadline for the Trustee applications is 20th December 2021, with interviews in January 2022
It would be helpful when you contact us about volunteering if you can tell us a little bit about yourself, what roles you are interested in, and the amount of time you can commit to volunteering. If you prefer you can submit your expression of interest via our Winchester Heritage Open Days volunteering form.
Please note we will ask you to send us your curriculum vitae and a reference prior to any informal chat or interview, so we recommend having this information ready prior to contacting us.
